What a spectacular start to the Mahler Festival !
The Mahler Festival continues with the New York Philharmonic performing the Second Symphony, a work full of passion, lyricism and radiant melodies, especially in the capable hands of chief conductor Jaap van Zweden.
The third evening of the Mahler Festival features the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra playing Mahler’s Third Symphony. A declaration of love to nature and the universe.
Also on the programme is Elisabeth Kulman singing the incomparable Rückert-Lieder.
Mezzo-soprano Okka von der Damerau will be performing the solo.
The sixth evening of the Mahler festival: the Berlin Philharmonic, led by chief conductor Kirill Petrenko, will take listeners on a breathtaking tour through the peaks and valleys of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony.
On the seventh day of the Festival, Mahler uses his Seventh Symphony to explore the outer limits of the orchestra’s capabilities in a performance by the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Daniel Barenboim.
The Mahler Festival continues with the most enormous work in Mahler’s oeuvre.
